AFT/CCSF faculty: Speak out at Feb 23 board meeting

Reeling from class closures and planned reductions in the instructional program and other assignments, the Union will give voice to faculty impacted by the cuts at this Thursday, February 23 meeting of the CCSF Board of Trustees, 6:00 PM at 33 Gough Street.

The Board has completely reversed itself from last Fall 2011, when it restored more than $1.9 million to the CCSF budget citing student needs. The new mantra of the Board, given the District’s growing budget deficit, is to cut whatever is necessary in the name of “fiscal solvency.”

Join AFT 2121 this Thursday, Feb. 23 to demand:

Protect jobs, no layoffs! The District can downsize significantly from this year to next by using attrition, estimated at 55 FTE faculty who will resign, retire, or leave CCSF. Honor the agreement to protect base loads of full and part-time faculty. If cuts are necessary, look to retirees who are working and overload assignments first.

Don’t close the door on CCSF students! Just in the last several weeks, hundreds of students have seen their classes closed by administration.

Stop the cuts, seek new revenues! We call on the Board to do more to bring new revenues to CCSF by seeking funds from the CCSF Foundation, from the City, from San Francisco residents through a CCSF parcel tax, and supporting State-wide revenue initiatives on the November ballot. Download the flyer.
