The Government of the District of Columbia released a report recommending the closure of 36 traditional public schools.  While WTU acknowledges D.C. Public Schools’ responsibility to manage efficient public school facilities, this is clearly an assault on traditional public education and a serious threat to thousands of public school teachers that shoulder the responsibility of educating children every day in the District of Columbia.

What You Need to Do:

Write, call or visit your local legislators to support traditional public education and be a part of the plan to avoid job losses, reduced salaries and pensions for D.C. Teachers.
