If Congress doesn’t act, middle-class families will face a tax increase, and we could face devastating across-the-board cuts to key federal programs through a process known as sequestration. To avoid this situation, Congress must work with the president and agree on a plan that prioritizes job creation and opposes benefit cuts to cornerstone social insurance programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
